Author: Caroline Myss
Rating: Excellent — a must-read for anyone curious about how the psyche affects physical health
Genre: Esoteric, spiritual, mildly psychological
Language: Originally written in English — I found it quite readable. There is a Czech translation available, but I can’t speak to its quality.
Short Summary
A book on energy medicine that merges chakras, the Kabbalah, and the Christian sacraments. It offers brilliant insights into the deep interconnection between emotions, belief systems, and physical health.
“Every physical illness is a mirror of an emotional conflict.”
Personal Notes
An excellent book. It provides a detailed yet accessible explanation of the body’s energy centers — their locations, what happens when they’re blocked, and how healing transforms us.
At times, I found the author to lean a bit too far into the “esoteric” for my taste, especially in the chapters on the higher energy centers. Our perspectives on the world diverged somewhat. For example, I believe that even if someone feels they’re guided by a divine force, they shouldn’t surrender to it blindly. Human reasoning and emotional awareness still have their place in decision-making.
To illustrate — Hitler was also said to follow some kind of “inner voice,” but it’s hard to believe that voice came from God or anyone on His team.
That said, this philosophical difference doesn’t diminish my deep respect for the author or the value of this book. It truly broadened my perspective — I’ll definitely read it again.
